Campaign activities are designed to strengthen the role of parents in shaping children's healthy eating behavior. For the most part, it is the parents who are the authority for the child and can significantly influence his eating habits, teaching the basics of rational nutrition from an early age.
Primary school students and their parents will take part in interactive healthy eating games. The events will be carried out in three schools in Batken region and three schools in Talas region. In addition, the campaign will be accompanied by an online contest on WFP's social media pages. Participants will compete and prepare a dish with the whole family according to recipes posted on the website tamakash.edu.gov.kg. The top ten video creators, selected by an independent commission, will receive prizes.
The educational campaign is carried out under the National Programme on "School Meals Optimization", implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic with the technical support of WFP and SIFI. The Programme is aimed at improving the nutrition of primary school students. To date, WFP has provided technical assistance to the government to provide improved hot and varied school meals in more than 800 schools.
