The Production and Logistics Center staff gets training on fruit, berry processing

Kyrgyzstan
What connects a tasty school breakfast with technological breakthroughs? Both become reality thanks to the efforts of the Production and Logistics Center (PLC) in the Batken region. This center doesn’t just handle food products—it’s setting a new quality standard for school meals. From December 16 to 27, 2024, PLC specialists received advanced training to take fruit and berry processing to a new level.

Training: why and how

Gulkayir Mamaziyaeva and Bubuzainap Temirova, specialists from the center, completed a professional development course at the M.M. Adyshev Osh Technological University. They learned cutting-edge technologies in fruit and berryprocessing, covering everything from long-term storage techniques to the secrets of preservation. While the concepts might sound complex, the goal is simple: to retain the products’ nutritional value so children can enjoy fresh, delicious food year-round.

Farmers collaborating with the center can now be confident that their produce will be used as efficiently as possible.

How does the PLC in the Kadamjay District operate?

The PLC is far more than just a warehouse or a storage facility. It’s an entire ecosystem connecting farmers, schools, and local communities. Established in spring 2023, the center has already made a name for itself. It has won contracts to supply vegetables to educational institutions and organized charitable initiatives, delivering fresh produce to schools and kindergartens.

The PLC’s work goes beyond improving school feeding. It’s driving regional change. For example, the center helps local farmers achieve stable incomes by participating in large-scale supply contracts. The ability to process products locally also opens up opportunities to diversify and expand their offerings.

Looking ahead

The center has ambitious plans: building a new storage facility, increasing production volumes, and entering new markets. These changes aren’t just about having better-quality food for children—they’re about creating truly innovative school meals.
