SIFI’s contribution
Anatoly Maksimov, Economics and Finance Advisor at the Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute (SIFI), delivered a presentation on successful school feeding projects implemented in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia. He detailed the outcomes achieved and future plans, underscoring the importance of providing high-quality and well-balanced meals to schoolchildren in these countries.
"A comprehensive approach is crucial when organizing school meals. In today's world, it's not enough for children simply to have full stomachs. We must consider every aspect: what to feed them, how to prepare meals, the equipment and processes used, staff training, funding sources, governmental regulation, and public awareness," Maksimov emphasized.
He concluded by stressing that school meals alone are not sufficient for a child's physical development. Balanced nutrition at home is equally vital, which is why extensive engagement with parents is necessary to achieve this goal.
Platform for collaboration and progress
Erisman Readings – 2024 served as a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the development of strategies aimed at improving public health. By bringing together scientists, experts, and NGOs, the event laid the groundwork for strengthening the health and well-being of the population. Such initiatives are essential for driving progress in the fields of nutritional science and food hygiene and ensuring a healthier future for the nation.
