Participants of the 2nd CIS International School Feeding Forum had the opportunity to witness the progress of Tajikistan’s National School Feeding Programme firsthand during field visits to schools in Dushanbe and Nurek.
Delegations from relevant ministries across the CIS toured school canteens and observed how meals are prepared and served in both urban and rural settings. As part of the UN World Food Programme’s ongoing project in Tajikistan, participants also visited a school greenhouse that supplies fresh produce for daily meals.
The visit concluded in Nurek with a symbolic event: under the guidance of Badriddin Muzaffarzoda, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan, forum participants planted a Friendship Garden on the school grounds. Each delegation placed a sapling—apple or pear—bearing the name of its country, creating a living symbol of cooperation and shared commitment to children’s health and nutrition.
