The country and the world in general can go through the most difficult times. But no matter how difficult it is, care for the health of children cannot be ignored. And, of course, school meals must remain one of the key tools of this care.
In Armenia, we, together with the UN WFP, continue to work on the development of the school meals programme. We all want as many children as possible to get delicious and nutritious free meals at school.
This week the SIFI team went to schools in Lori Marz to check the condition of canteens and give their recommendations on how to improve and equip them. Indeed you cannot give children quality meals without well-equipped canteens.
Lori Marz is one of the four marzes of Armenia that has not yet entered the National School Meals Programme. But thanks to the programme, 474 schools are planned to be brought into proper sanitary and hygienic condition and equipped with new equipment, as well as in Gegharkunik, Kotayk and Armavir.
Now there is time for potato harvest in Lori marz. In this region, in many rural schools, parents bring food for school meals to diversify the menu with healthy natural vegetables and herbs.
