School Meals Recipes Book in Armenia won the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2019

At the Macao International Book Fair 2019 (China), which runs from July 3 to 7, School Meals Recipes Book, developed by SIFI, UN WFP and the Sustainable School Feeding Foundation under the National School Meals Programme in Armenia, was picked up the Gourmand World Cookbook award.

The 24th Gourmand World Cookbook Awards Ceremony this year is carried out as part of the International Book Fair at the Arts and Cultural Festival in China. Every year, the organizing body of the awards honors the best food books, printed or digital, as well as food television for their contribution to the development of gastronomic culture.

Macau is recognized as the "UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy", therefore the Book Fair titled "A Taste of Macao" is dedicated to gastronomic art. This year the focus is on the publications of the winners of the Gourmand Awards. A live kitchen feature invited chefs from around the world showcasing their skills in preparing delicious dishes. There are also a lot of other events: talks delivered by writers, book launches, seminars on publishing culture in China, and cookbook publisher salons.

The UN WFP team presented the School Meals Programme in Armenia to an international audience. And also, together with world famous chefs, conducted master classes on cooking healthy breakfasts according to Armenian national recipes.

The international competition of cookbooks Gourmand World Cookbook Awards was founded in 1995 by Eduard Cointreau and annually awards the best authors of culinary publications from around the world for their contribution to nutritional culture.

SIFI team is very pleased to be involved in the creation of the Book, which deservedly received the award. We are sure that school chefs from other countries will take note of some of the National Armenian recipes from this Book in order to prepare delicious, healthy and balanced dishes for their students!
